From their modest origins in the mid-nineteenth century to high-end sneakers created in the past decade, sneakers have become a global obsession. The Riseof Sneaker Culture is the first exhibition to explore the complex social history and cultural significance of the footwear now worn by billions of people throughout the world.
Boston Children’s Museum recently opened a new exhibit, “Art for your Feet.” This exhibit showcases some of the Sneaker Museum’s collection of Air Jordan sneakers along with artwork inspired by sneakers. The Art for Your Feet exhibit is all about finding artistic inspiration in sneakers.

To celebrate our inauguration in Boston the Sneaker Museum and The Future Boston Alliance co-hosted a premiere party at the Emerald Lounge at the Revere Hotel. The occasion marked our debut appearance on the scene - showcasing chronological installations of year I - X, a retro fashion show and highlighting the cultural significance of the collection. The event was a great success head to toe!
